Benefit Overview
The Aflac Group Critical Illness Insurance plan provides a lump-sum cash benefit if you or a covered family member is diagnosed with a covered critical illness. This benefit helps ease the financial stress of recovery by providing funds that can be used for treatment costs, bills, or everyday living expenses while you focus on your health.
Available to full-time employees who elect voluntary coverage during open enrollment. Spouse and dependent child coverage is also available when the employee is enrolled.

How It Works
If you are diagnosed with a covered condition, Aflac pays you a one-time, tax-free lump-sum benefit. This cash payment can be used for medical bills, mortgage or rent, utilities, travel for treatment, or any other expenses during your recovery period. Benefits are paid directly to you, not your healthcare provider.
Additional Features
- Coverage for employees, spouses, and dependent children.
- Child coverage included at 50% of the employee’s benefit at no additional cost.
- Additional diagnosis and recurrence benefits available for separate critical illnesses or re-diagnosis after 6 months.
- Waiver of premium available if you become totally disabled due to a covered illness (up to 24 months).
- Coverage is portable—you can take it with you if you leave employment or retire.
Who This Benefit Is For
This plan is ideal for employees seeking financial protection in case of a serious medical diagnosis such as cancer, heart attack, or stroke. It provides peace of mind by helping manage out-of-pocket and non-medical expenses during recovery.
