Benefit Overview

The Aflac Group Hospital Indemnity Insurance plan provides cash benefits to help cover costs related to a hospital stay due to an illness or accident. It’s designed to complement your medical coverage by paying cash directly to you, which can be used for medical bills or personal expenses while you recover.

Available to full-time employees who elect voluntary coverage during open enrollment. Dependents may be added at the employee’s cost.

Key Details

Cash benefits are paid directly to you and can be used however you choose—helping cover deductibles, copays, travel, meals, or other expenses during a hospital stay.

Covered Benefit	Benefit Amount
Hospital Admission (once per covered sickness or accident per year)	$1,000 per confinement
Hospital Confinement	$150 per day (up to 31 days per confinement)
Hospital Intensive Care Unit (ICU)	$150 per day (up to 10 days per confinement)
Intermediate Intensive Care Step-Down Unit	$75 per day (up to 10 days per confinement)
Successor Insured Benefit	Allows a covered spouse to continue the policy after the employee’s death

How It Works

When you’re admitted to a hospital for a covered illness or accident, Aflac pays you a set cash benefit amount based on the type and duration of your stay. You can use the money for hospital expenses or non-medical needs, like mortgage payments, transportation, or family care costs.

Coverage Example

If you’re admitted for two days due to illness, the plan could pay:

Hospital Admission: $1,000
Hospital Confinement: $150 per day × 2 days = $300
Total Benefit: $1,300

Additional Information

Benefits are paid in addition to your regular health insurance.
Guaranteed issue coverage—no medical questions required.
Coverage is portable if you leave or retire (with certain stipulations).
Plan also includes coverage for dependents and newborn intensive care stays.
